They are independant fighters. They are familiar with all the weapons and ships in the Galaxy. Some of them are very good and are more dangerous than many Jedi. Some others are just amateurs. They use to rent their services to other players. Some Bounty Hunters work for Sith, other for Jedi, some of them don't make any difference.
